Queries on additional funding

I currently have a Grants for Places of Worship application for roof repairs under assessment by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Can I withdraw that application and apply for a grant from this fund instead?

Yes, you can withdraw your application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and apply to this fund providing you have not already received the offer of a grant. However, you should contact your local Heritage Lottery Fund office at the earliest opportunity to discuss the implications of withdrawing your application.

You cannot apply for a grant from this fund if you have an existing offer for a repair grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, or from Cadw, English Heritage (now Historic England), Historic Scotland, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, even if you have not yet formally accepted it.

I am finding it difficult to raise sufficient money to meet the match-funding requirements of my Heritage Lottery Fund project. Can I apply to this fund to help meet this funding shortfall?

No. You cannot apply to this fund if you are already in receipt of a repair grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, or from Cadw, English Heritage (now Historic England), Historic Scotland or the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. You should contact your local Heritage Lottery Fund office to discuss your problems with fundraising.

Can I apply for a Listed Places of Worship (VAT) Grant Scheme (LPW) grant for the same work?

Yes. We will expect you to make a claim to this scheme and to recover the actual amount you spend on VAT on eligible repairs as well as VAT on professional fees directly relating to these works. You should enter the amount you expect to reclaim from the LPW grant scheme as partnership funding on your application form. We cannot do this for you. Failure to identify the amount of VAT you expect to recover from the LPW scheme might affect the success of your application.

Can I apply for a grant if I am in receipt of another grant from a government historic environment agency or lottery distributor, but for a different project?

Only if your existing grant-aided project does not involve building repairs or if your repair project is completed. This is because the programme is primarily for those listed places of worship that are not currently benefitting from Government or Lottery support for urgent building repairs. You can still apply for a grant if your other grant-aided project is not for building repair works or if it has been completed.
